Analyze and decipher body mechanics

Health & Biomechanics Lab

Visit Lab Santé & Biomechanics is a space dedicated to the precise observation of the body in motion.
Here, we study human gestures in their physical, technical and expressive dimensions - be they from the performing arts, sport, work or healthcare.

Using state-of-the-art capture and analysis technologies, we measure, model and interpret body dynamics in real-life contexts. The aim: to better understand movement mechanisms, optimize performance, prevent imbalances, and pass on this knowledge through concrete tools.

This laboratory is designed for artists, athletes, educators, healthcare professionals, ergonomists, gesture professionals and institutions that work with and through the body. It explores the links between movement science, contemporary creation, prevention, training and therapeutic support.
We are open to the construction of partnerships with the healthcare sector, to work together to develop innovative uses for motion analysis.

Sports performance and biomechanics

Sports performance, particularly at the highest level, becomes a field of study. Using motion capture, we analyze the precision, power and fluidity of movement with a view to excellence. This work opens up new perspectives in biomechanics, movement optimization and coaching to achieve results.

Bodies on stage

Live performance is at the heart of our approach. Dancers, actors, musicians and performers explore the expressive, cultural and memorial dimensions of the body in action. We accompany stage creations in which gesture becomes a material to be captured, prolonged and seen anew.

The body as interface

When the body is captured, it becomes data. When this data is transformed, it becomes an image, an avatar, a projection. The Performance Lab explores these passages: between the real body and its digital double, between intention, interpretation and restitution. The result is a reflection on what we show, transmit and transform.

Prevention and intelligent gestures

Using measurement and visualization tools, we develop awareness-raising initiatives around professional gestures. The aim: to better understand efforts, anticipate imbalances, and encourage practices that respect the body - in the physical, artistic or healthcare professions.

Discovery and transmission

We work with young people from primary school through to higher education. Whether in the classroom or in a mobile studio, students are introduced to motion capture, 3D creation, moving image professions and the expressive possibilities of the connected body. These experiences inspire vocations and open up new forms of storytelling.

FAQ

Any person or organization interested in the body in action: performing artists, athletes, trainers, educators, researchers, care or movement professionals, as well as the curious and the passionate. No practice is considered too “minor” or “marginal” to be included in the discussion. What counts is the gesture, the desire to share, and the will to explore.

Yes, absolutely. We're always on the lookout for new perspectives, unexpected intersections and hybrid forms. Whether it's for a test, a performance, a residency or an experiment, don't hesitate to contact us.

All forms of bodily expression: dance, theater, sport, martial arts, ritual, improvisation, play, care, pedagogy, etc. The Performance Lab doesn't set strict boundaries: it seeks to cross them, blur them, or draw new ones.

Maybe that's good news. The Performance Lab is a breathing space. We don't pretend to know everything, or to foresee everything. If you come with a new idea, an intuition, a vague but sincere desire, then you're already in the right place.

Because we believe it's essential to introduce children to the tools and trades of digital creation at an early age. Motion capture, 3D, movement and performance arts are not the preserve of a circle of experts. By meeting students in their schools, we sow the seeds of curiosity, confidence and inspiration. It's a gateway to imaginations, vocations and sometimes unexpected paths. Above all, it's a way of saying: you too can create.

Yes, observing is part of the process. Some participants come to watch, listen and understand. There's no obligation to get moving. Visit Performance Lab is also a space for awareness, contemplation and discovery of bodies in action.

Yes, we develop activities adapted to every age and every context: discovery workshops, demonstrations, artistic residencies in schools... The aim is to make the culture of gesture and technology accessible from the earliest age.

Not at all. Visit Performance Lab welcomes beginners and experts alike. We believe in the intelligence of the body, whatever its trajectory. It's often the least expected experiences that yield the most inspiring results.

We are based in Martinique, but have a regional and international vocation. We are always open to invitations, collaborations or residencies elsewhere. If you think our approach could enrich a place or a project, write to us.

Nothing could be simpler. A form is available on our website. You can also write to us directly by e-mail or via our networks. We'll reply to every proposal, even if it's out of the ordinary. Especially if it's out of the box.
